final assignment for December:
finish the book on Ives/Copland. Listen to all of the pieces on the CD AT LEAST TWICE!
read the author's essays on each of the pieces.
choose one piece by Ives and one by Copland, and compare them.
find additional sources for more info on the pieces themselves.
write a 3 page paper comparing and contrasting the two pieces. include at least one paragraph for each piece about your reaction to the music. Compare your reaction to that of the author.
format:
Introduction/thesis
Piece one - your analysis, author's analysis, historical information about the piece
Piece two - same as above
